Ryan Schultz has proven himself to be one of the West Coast’s most prolific low brass pedagogues. His students have won top prizes in International, National, Regional, Washington State and local music competitions.  His high school students routinely earn top spots in the All-Northwest and All-State Honors Ensembles, frequently earning “1stchair.”  Some recent student accomplishments include top prize in the International Tuba and Euphonium Association’s “19 and under” International tuba solo competition and 1st place at the WMEA tuba solo competition.  Ryan’s low brass students have gone on to study music at Colburn with a full fellowship (“full ride”)  and have also been admitted to and/or received scholarships, as music majors and as non-music majors, at some of the nations finest conservatories and liberal arts colleges.

One of the Northwest’s busiest orchestral tubists, Mr. Schultz is Principal Tubist of the Pacific NW Ballet Orchestra and the Auburn and Yakima Symphonies. He has performed and recorded with Seattle Symphony and can be heard on numerous commercial recordings, one of his more recent contributions was for the major motion picture featuring Tom Cruise: Valkyrie.  Ryan plays and teaches all the low brass instruments. A former member of the West Coast’s Army Band, Mr. Schultz toured the Western United States and performed extensively as solo tubist, euphonist and bass trombonist with that organization.
